Re: George Best All by Himself
On my way to the St. Valentine's Day massacre vs Oldham, I stopped in a pub and listened to three old soaks describing how great George was.

Football was hardly mentioned, but they did talk about his great capacity for booze and his great generosity in buying drinks for all and sundry.

You never saw him play Blue Sky. Good that you like a drunk wife beater though, I guess you saw yourself in him, literally

Amazing as Stringfellows opened in 1980. Best left Manchester United in 1974

He's not even top 5 in Europe

There's a sports bar in Bangkok named in honour of little Georgie Best.

It's called The Pickled Liver.

I remember seeing pics of Best leaving Stringfellows at 2 am Sat Morning with Miss world on his arm, Drunk, on his way home to pound Miss world all night before turning up at Old trafford at 3 pm Sat afternoon then running rings around the opposition for 90 minutes...... George best was magic! One of the best, definitely top 5, top 3 debatable.

Miike - Yes, he could finish too.

I don't have any real thoughts on Best as in how great he was as he was before my time and I've only seen vids, tv clips of him like most, plus it was a different era.

Clearly a genius, but was he better than Gascoigne and Giggs? Probably. Was he better than say Maradona and Zidane? No.
-----------------------------------------------

'Don't have any real thoughts on him' and obviously never seen him play but then make a matter of fact statement about who he was better than and who he wasn't. Textbook WHO. Full of dribbling know it all spastics

Re: George Best All by Himself
Best by name. best by nature. If he was West Ham you wouldn't hear the last of it on here.

Sure, loads of good, even GREAT, players have come out of Europe, but very few of them excelled playing each week on a cabbage patch, getting lumps kicked out of them by the opposition every chance they had.

Re: George Best All by Himself
I watched him loads of times and he would be in the top 5 definitely.

Re: George Best All by Himself
Loads of players far better than him have come out of Europe.

He was a very good player, but he ain't top 10, not even top 20 of all time.

Absolute cunt of a man as well.

Worth a watch this. I thought Angie came across well.

Great player but no excuse for some of the shit he pulled, like the wife beating. I've been a cunt in my time on the booze but there's a fucking limit.

Re: George Best All by Himself
I recall a tale when Maradona was due in the UK and he asked f he could meet Best.

Far Cough 1:41 Mon Jul 3
Re: George Best All by Himself
Maradona cites Best as an influence, Pele reckons he was the best player in Europe, certainly better than Gazza and Giggs not quite as good as Zidane, who for me is the best player I have ever seen
